the round Bmw logo was a representation of a turning propeller of a Bavarian Luftwaffe. Around then, air ships were painted with territorial shades and the colors of the Bavarian banner were white and blue. It is said that the pilot saw the propeller as exchanging sections of white and blue, thus the logo. The roundel was a nod to Karl Rapp's unique organization.

Throughout Planet War I, Bmw logo was a significant supplier of plane motors (and later planes, for example the Red Nobleman) (much obliged Redditors!) to the German government. After the war, Germany was illegal by the Settlement of Versailles to produce planes and Bmw logo was compelled to transform its business: it first made route brakes before making mechanized bike, bikes and autos.

Redesign 3/6/08: Neatorama book fans Dan S. also Bruce Kennedy who brought up that the thought of Bmw logo being determined from turning propeller was really a commercial by the organization (span down about partly). Additionally on account of klaus who indicated us out the logo of Emw, which Bmw logo assumed control in 1928.
